What A Week

So many things have happened this week I don't know where to begin. Let's start with earlier this week when Sophia was laying on my chest and she rolled over. I was tilted just a little bit but she did most of it on her own. I was so proud.
Friday she had her two month visit to the doctors office. She is doing great. She weighs 8lbs 8ozs. She can follow you with her eyes and respond to noises. She has been doing tummy time and the doctor is very proud of her. I think she says that to all the babies mamas but I don't care. She kept commenting on how round Sophia's head is. The doctor says in premies their heads can get a little distorted. She said to keep doing what we are doing. Friday afternoon when we were at my parents house Sophia rolled half way over on the couch with no help. It was a moment of excitement and terror. She is growing up so fast. We are going to have to keep an eye on her from now on.
Yesterday we went to the Hunter Extravaganza with Sophia. We used our stroller for the first time. It was great. It was so easy to use. Cory, Sam, and I walked around for hours. After we left we went to Cabelleas. I got to feed Sophia in weird places and change her poopy diaper in the middle of the store. Actually Sam did it but I was right next to him handing him everything he needed. It was a great moment of togetherness for Sam and me.
Today when I was feeding her she smiled at me for the first time because she knew who I was. It was amazing. We are planning on having a family day today because I am going to back work tomorrow. I am going to miss taking care of Sophia but Sam is going to be here to take care of her. I know everything is going to work out the way it is suppose to.

Good Times...Lazy Times

Sam is out of town for a couple of days and I am so tired. Having to take care of Sophia 24 hours a day with no help really wakes you up to how tired you can really be. I have done this a couple of times and it makes me appreciate Sam more. Sam however has not had to do a full 24 hours and I just might let him when he gets back. She is not sleeping through the night. Far from it I think she is getting worse. She has no schedule what happened to the schedule?! I am so tired and fat that it makes me lazy. Trying to just do laundry is a task. It takes me a couple of days to get the energy to do all the things around the house that I wanted to get done. I haven't worked out yet but that is just because I am too lazy. I am watching what I eat though to see if I can lose a couple of pounds. So far it hasn't worked. I have not lost any weight and it frustrating. I know that I have to work out but when do I have the time. I am a stay at home Mom. I am so busy. Right??
Oh well I'll get there some day.

Not Much to Talk About

This week has been pretty quite. Still trying to get Sophia to sleep through the night. I have to remember she is a premie and it takes longer for her to start sleeping through. She does tummy time 1-2 times a day. She is able to hold her head up for quite a while. I feel bad because she does not like tummy time but I know it is something she has to do to get strong. She still cry because she is frustrated and want to help but I know that the way to help her is to let her do it on her own. I hate to watch her struggle. It is not so bad if she is fully awake. She tends to last a lot longer on her tummy if she is not tired. Sophia is growing like a weed. I can't believe how much she has changed and continues to change every day. I can't wait to see what she is going to do next.

The Doctor Said...

We went to get an x-ray of Sophia's tummy. We were looking to see if everything was normal in her bowel tract. The doctor was happy to see that everything was fine. She was not worried about anything she saw. We even got to look at the x-ray. The office gave us a copy of the x-ray's on a disc.
Sam's parents came into town this weekend. They got here around 4pm on Friday. We sat around and talked for a couple of hours and talked. His Mom got a kick out of Sophia's facial expressions. They kept telling us how good Sophia is and how lucky we are. We didn't know if his parents were staying with us so I washed the sheets. We didn't have time to make the beds up before they got here. Needless to say they got a hotel room and at the end of the night when they headed back to there hotel Sam and I were too exhausted to make the bed. So we both decided to sleep on our couch. Well at 3am Sam woke up and asked me if I would help him make a bed up. I was feeding Sophia so I told him I would when I got done. He fell back asleep. After I was done I went and made up the bed. I woke him up to tell him to go to bed. He said why didn't you wake me up I would have helped but I told him it was fine I was already up and all he had to do is go to bed. He said I was the best wife ever. I told him I would remind him of that the next time he gets mad at me.
Saturday Mike and Wendy came over with his parents. They had a family afternoon while I headed to a baby shower. We were exhausted again that night and headed to bed early.
Sunday we went out to breakfast and then his parents left. Sam and I spent the day watching netflix and working on his paper. Cory came over to show off his new truck. He asked if I wanted to come over and watch the football game. I went over because I needed to get out of the house. Sam stayed at the house probably because he wanted some alone time. I headed back to my house because I was tired. Then Lance(the neighbor) came over and stayed for a while. I finally went to bed around 1am. I am so tired. On top of that I started and I am really tired and cranky. What a weekend...but we had fun.

Date With the Doctor

It has been quite a week. For the most part not much has been going on. We went to the doctor on Tuesday because Sophia was not pooping. I was concerned because she had not pooped since Friday. The doctor told me to bring her in. She wanted to take a look at her to make sure nothing serious was wrong. Her belly was not bloated and she did not feel any obstructions. She wanted me to go get a x-ray just to be on the safe side. I decided not to since the doctor was not concerned. She was weighed while she was there. She now weighs 7 1/2 lbs.
Last night Sophia stayed up for 6 straight hours. Sam was not happy camper. She finally fell asleep around 7am this morning. On top of that she kept spitting up after every feeding. Today she slept all day from 7am to 4pm. I was concerned again especially because when she finally woke up she only 1/2 an ounce of food then spit it up again. I called the doctor again and she told me to go get the x-ray tomorrow morning and we have a doctor's appointment again in the morning. At least we will be at the doctors on my due date.

Dr. Visit - 6 Weeks Old

Today we had our two week doctors visit to see how Sophia is progressing. She is now 6 lbs 11.5oz. 19 3/4 inches long. Both are in the 50% of premies her age. Her head size is in the 10%. So now she has a small head for her age. I think it looks normal I can't see a difference. Doctor says she is not worried. It has been a long day of running around and Sophia had just about had it by the time we got home. She stayed up for 2 hours crying and feeding, and crying and feeding again. She was fine as long as you didn't put her down. As soon as we did she was crying again. She just needed a little extra love today. Sam needed a break so he headed of to his friends house for a couple of hours. I was finally able to put her down after holding her for about an hour and a half. We will see how long she lasts. She is still cluster feeding but it is getting later in the night. Sam is hoping she changes it to the day soon. I think the lack of sleep is finally getting to him. I might have to start taking over soon or at least help out. He has been a great help to me so I am not sleep deprived at all. The least I can do is return the favor.

Sleeping Situation

Two days ago Sam decided he was tired of sleeping on the couch. He wanted to sleep with me in our bed and thought Sophia needed to sleep in her bed. Two nights ago I went to bed and Sam decided that was the night he was going to start putting her in her crib. I wake up in the morning to find Sam sleeping in Sophia's room with Sophia sleeping in the bouncy. I just smiled and didn't say anything. Later when he woke up I asked him how it worked he said she was used to sleeping in an upright angle because "WE" kept putting her in the swing. I kindly reminded him that "I" put her in the cradle and that "HE" puts her in the swing. I decided to try an experiment so at the next feeding I asked Sam if he wanted to try to put her in the crib since in was early evening and we would be up to test her. I waited until she fell asleep and put her in her crib. Needless to say she has been sleeping in her crib ever since. I guess sometimes it just takes a Mothers touch.
